In 2016, we saw a lot of great car companies with dipping sales and other car companies that made huge profits. Thus, here is a list of cars that we felt needed more consumer love, but their love went unrequited.
Mazda MX 5 Miata There is no doubt that this car received great reviews. The build quality is excellent. It is light weight, has great handling, and the open top is very enjoyable. However, the car serves to a very niche market which meant that low sales were a given.
BMW – 3 Series The 3 series is a great sporty sedan, but the numbers show that the sales of this machine have been down by over 30 percent this year, which is really sad, considering the fact that this is a classic entry level luxury vehicle. Unless you opt for the M3, which is nowhere near entry level, with its 425HP 3.0L Twin Turbo engine that accelerates you to 60mph in just 4.1 seconds!
Ford Fiesta This car is Europe’s hottest selling car in 2016, but in the American markets, this car did not uphold that reputation. This is understandable, given the poor service record of Ford, however, this car seems to be one of the most responsive ones from Ford.
Chevrolet SS As a car, the Chevrolet SS is an amazing consumer product, however, its sales numbers are absolutely dismal. The rear wheel drive, powered by a V8 engine, with magnetic drive control, has not found any interest in American consumers this year. Perhaps this trend will change next year?
Subaru BRZ This car is the perfect match for an enthusiast looking for a fun yet affordable sports car. It has manual transmission as well a rear wheel drive system. The car even sports amazing looks. While it has a lot going for it, the sales numbers for this car weren’t great in 2016. The 2016 YTD Sales are only 3,927, down from 5,296 sales in 2015.
