The Seahawks are great. They have been to the playoffs now 5 years in a row, and have made it to the Super Bowl twice in that run, and wone one of those. They have had the best defense in the league (arguably) and have been the best at home of any team. All that seems to be continuing now doesn’t it? They’re the #3 seed, so why do I say they are not the same?
In both of their super bowl runs they had a great defense, and a good offense. Not this year though. The Seattle Seahawks offense is an absolute mess. Russel Wilson had a 92 passer rating on the season. The offensive line gave up the 6th most sacks in the league. They’ve only had two recievers with more than 2 touchdowns. They don’t have a running game. This is an offensive team that finds it really misses Marshawn Lynch.
Okay, but what about their defense? They’ve always been a defensive team first. Now, that is true, but what did we learn from the Denver Broncos this year. Only defense isn’t enough to win Super Bowl’s. Now this may be strange to say, considering both the Broncos and the Seahawks won Super Bowl’s largely thanks to their defense, but the exception is that they did have some offense. The Broncos had Peyton Manning one of the best quarterbacks of all time, and the Seahawks had Marshawn Lynch and a Russel Wilson with a 100 plus QBR.
On top of that without Earl Thomas the defense has been struggling. The Seahawks gave up 38 points to the Packers, 34 points to the Cardinals, and almost let the 2-14 49ers beat them with 23 points. Sure they held the Rams to 3 points, but the Rams are the worst offense in the league.
Now, I’m not saying count the Seahawks out, because that is something that you never want to do, but the Seahawks are not nearly as strong a team as they were last year and the year before and the year before. Every dynasty struggles, take a look at the Green Bay Packers this early season, but unless the Seahawks get real hot real quick, they’ll be watching the playoffs from home.
